The Next Generation Initiative is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation which helps young men and women gain the skills, connections and experience their careers will demand, and the global perspective leadership requires — through fellowships, internships, Master Classes, mentoring and other initiatives and programs for the next generation.
Investing in the future
We believe the future holds great promise for the next generation. We see a generation ready to make enormous contributions to the world, and to their communities — if given the chance. This is a generation ready to walk through the door — and the founders, friends and supporters of the Next Generation Initiative are ready to open it.
The Next Generation Initiative’s mission is to:
> engage the young men and women of the next generation;
> embrace their efforts to reinvent and embody for themselves the core values of the heritage they share — a respect for education, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a striving for excellence;
> connect them with others who share those values;
> strengthen their ability to renew these values as vital resources for the future of their communities; and,
> empower them with the skills and experience necessary for effective and affirmative leadership.
The programs of the Next Generation Initiative are made possible by grants from charitable foundations, support from private donors, and contributions from the members of Hellenext, an independent network of executives and professionals committed to seeing the next generation succeed. We thank the following founders and friends of the Next Generation Initiative for their continuing leadership, advice and support of our Initiative and its programs:
Dr. John Brademas
Sylvia Mathews Burwell
Dr. William Capitan
Dr. James Dimitriou
Barbara Spyridon Pope
Sen. Paul Sarbanes
Sen. Olympia Snowe
We would be remiss if we did not recognize the invaluable contributions made to our Initiative by three of our founding Board Members: the late Professor Charles Moskos, CBS News correspondent Ike Pappas, and Professor Chris Pavlides of Temple University. They are profoundly missed.
We also offer a very special thank you from the more than one thousand students who have participated in our Master Class program to all our Master Class leaders — especially Dr. George Hatsopoulos of MIT, who provided the original inspiration for our Master Class program.
